UNA OBRA MUSICAL A TODO DAR..."GODSPELL"



CORAL GABLES, Fla. – October 3, 2012 – Prepare ye for Actors' Playhouse's 25th Anniversary as the company kicks off its celebratory 2012-2013 Season with the hit Broadway musical Godspell. Based on The Gospel According to St. Matthew, Godspell remains one of the most popular rock musicals of all time. Messages of love, generosity, and joy are presented in song, dance, and all forms of theatrical play in this exuberant, rocking, rolling, and riveting production playing from October 10 through November 4 at the Miracle Theatre. 

Godspell originally ran for more than 2,600 performances in New York and spawned successful touring productions in major U.S. cities, a 1973 motion picture adaptation and countless international engagements for the past 40 years. One of the most enduring shows of all time, Godspell has touched the hearts of countless theatergoers all over the world and just finished its first-ever Broadway revival in June 2012. Conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak, with music and new lyrics by Academy and Grammy Award-winner Stephen Schwartz.


Preview performances of Godspell will be held Wednesday and Thursday, October 10 and 11 at 8 p.m. The show will open on Friday, October 12 at 8 p.m. and play through November 4, 2012. Evening performances will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with afternoon matinees on Sunday at 2 p.m. A special weekday matinee is scheduled on Wednesday, October 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets available by calling 305-444-9293 or online at www.actorsplayhouse.org.

JOSH CANFIELD (Jesus) is thrilled to be back at the Actors' Playhouse having played the role of Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat earlier this spring.  He is currently working on his new original musical I Am Zombie, which had its first reading in NYC in September. 

NICK DUCKART is thrilled to return to Actors'Playhouse!  Past AP credits: Next to Normal, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The Color of Desire.

CLAY CARTLAND is stoked to be back on the Mainstage at Actors' Playhouse. Most recently seen at Actors' in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, other South Florida credits include: Deathtrap, Lend Me A Tenor, Assassins, and Song of the Living Dead


HENRY GAINZA is excited to be back at Actors' after just completing the critically acclaimed run of Zapata, The Musical (NYMF) at The New Signature Theatre in NYC.  Off-Broadway/ NY: 4 Guys Named Jose… (Original Cast/Cast Album/Carbonell Nomination), Frida (The York), Jose Limon (Symphony Space).

JENI HACKER Jeni’s cup runneth over to be back at Actors' Playhouse. She pursued her Musical Theater Degree at the University of Miami, studying under Julien Stein and Philip Astor. Recent credits include Oliver! and the World Premiere of the new musical See Jane Run at Actors' Playhouse. 


SHEA HESS hails from New York and is thrilled to be in this amazing production at Actors' Playhouse!  Most recently, she originated the role of Debbie in the off-Broadway show, Hereafter Musical. Tours: RENT (Maureen). NY/Regional: Cabaret, Brunch, Quiet Cry, Oklahoma, Music Man, and Metropolis.

HEATHER KOPP is thrilled to be making her Actors' Playhouse debut! Recent credits include: My Fair Lady, directed by Frank Galati, the pre-Broadway premier of Bonnie & Clyde

KAREEMA KHOURI is a graduate of American Musical Dramatic Academy in NYC; New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. Received awards/recognition from Florida's Governor; Florida's Secretary of State at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow. Has performed in Working (Caldwell); Motherhood the Musical.

CINDY PEARCE is thrilled to be making her Actors' Playhouse Mainstage debut with this amazing cast and crew.  For five seasons, she's proudly been a regular with the Actors' Playhouse Musical Theatre for Young Audiences; playing everything from a Lion in Wizard of Oz, a Catterpiller in Alice in Wonderland, a maid, in A Christmas Carol, the Musical. 


DON SEWARD is beyond THRILLED to be making his Actors' Playhouse debut in this wonderful production of Godspell. Past credits: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (M.Mahoney/Nat'l Tour), The Wiz (Lion), Radio Golf (Harmond Wilks), and Dreamgirls (Jimmy Early)...just to name a few.
